FabCon Vienna: Build data-rich agents on an enterprise-ready foundation
Power BI stands out as a top choice in business intelligence, with over 7 million developers actively creating data visuals. Meanwhile, Microsoft Fabric is rapidly becoming the go-to platform for data developers. To make it even better, we’re rolling out a wide array of new tools within Fabric.
We’re thrilled to introduce the Fabric Extensibility Toolkit in preview. This toolkit is an upgrade from the Microsoft Fabric Workload Development Kit. It’s designed to help any developer easily bring their data applications into Fabric tailored for their organisations. With a simplified architecture and added automation, development has never been easier. You can now create your custom Fabric items while we handle everything else, like distribution, user interface, and security. Don’t wait—give it a go today.
Also new is the preview of Fabric MCP. This innovative Model Context Protocol is focused on developers and includes AI-assisted code generation and item creation for Microsoft Fabric. It makes building with Fabric’s public APIs a breeze, integrating templates and best practices directly into your workflow. Plus, it works seamlessly with tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio Code and GitHub Codespaces, and it’s fully open and extensible.
We’re excited to announce the general availability of Git integration and deployment pipelines across lakehouses, data warehouses, copy jobs, activators, Power BI reports, and more. Now, you can implement continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) capabilities throughout the Fabric platform. We’re also extending CI/CD support to Fabric data agents. Alongside this, we’re launching User Data Functions and the Fabric VS Code extension for full use. Plus, check out the new open-source version of the command line interface in Fabric.
Lastly, we’re rolling out horizontal tabs for open items, support for multiple active workspaces, and a fresh object explorer. These enhancements are all about making multitasking in Fabric smoother, quicker, and more user-friendly.
