Expanding model choice in Copilot with Grok
We’re excited to announce that we’re broadening the options available in Copilot by introducing Grok models from SpaceXAI1. This move demonstrates our dedication to integrating the latest AI innovations into Copilot, designed specifically for work and tailored to meet your business needs.
To make the SpaceXAI models available within Copilot, we’ve added SpaceXAI to Microsoft’s Online Services Subprocessor List. These models can be accessed through a specific administrative setting, which is turned off by default.
If your organization wishes to use these models, you’ll need to enable the setting first. This way, administrators can maintain transparency and manage the data processed by SpaceXAI models in the supported Copilot experiences.
The rollout of the Grok models is happening as part of the Microsoft Frontier Program in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. We’re starting with a targeted release to collect your feedback and observe how these models are integrated into everyday productivity tasks.
However, please note that Grok is not accessible to Frontier customers located in the European Union (EU), European Free Trade Association (EFTA), and the United Kingdom during the preview phase.
Our multi-model approach ensures that you have access to top-tier AI while keeping the Copilot experience reliable and trustworthy. The insights we gain from this public preview will help us refine what comes next. We will assess feedback, usage trends, and overall product fit before expanding model availability to more Copilot experiences and platforms.
Before introducing any new models to our customers, Microsoft conducts thorough testing, safety validation, and Responsible AI reviews to ensure quality and safety.
1 Grok is the model family from SpaceXAI available as a preview for eligible Frontier customers.
