How to Make a WordPress Chart With AI for Free

There are three methods to input your data, and none requires a file.

Paste the table. Simply copy rows from a spreadsheet or document and paste them directly into the prompt box, then instruct it on what to do with them.

Simply describe the chart. Input the numbers within a sentence. Ensure the AI understands the data, and it will generate the chart along with the data.

Upload an image. If the chart you desire already exists within a PDF, report, or slide deck, use Reference Image beneath the prompt box. Offer Visualizer the chart you’re working from and ask it to recreate or modify it without having to start from zero.

For Pro users, there’s another option available: direct the AI to a spreadsheet, or a CSV or XLSX file, or a URL from the data source tabs, and the sync feature ensures the chart remains up-to-date with any number changes.

Request the chart you envision. Traditional builders have a limited array of chart types. With AI, you can articulate the visualization you desire, whether it’s a scatter plot, radar chart, or another type, and it will generate it for you.

Visualise changes in real time. The preview appears next to the prompt, enabling you to observe your adjustments as you make them. Ask for an alternate layout, modify a label, change a colour, or explore another option.

Build on a robust visualisation framework. Every chart produced by Visualizer AI utilizes D3.js, the JavaScript library for crafting data-driven visualisations. This ensures you’re not confined to a simplified AI-generated graphic. If you wish to delve deeper, Edit Code allows direct access to the chart’s D3 code.

Insights from Two Months of Real Use

The insights below stem from two months of authentic usage. We examined the prompts collectively to discern what users were actually doing, rather than relying on our assumptions.

Some findings surprised us.

Our method. We analysed prompts collectively, ensuring anonymity by omitting site names, personal details, and quoting prompts verbatim. We present percentages instead of counts. While two months is not an extensive period, and considering this is our product, interpret what follows as guidance, not judgement.

This chart was created using Visualizer AI, based on the data we discovered: 1 prompt 41%, 2 prompts 25%, 3 to 4 prompts 15%, 5 to 9 prompts 12%, and 10 or more 7%. We requested a horizontal bar chart and asked for percentage labels on the bars.

Two out of five prompts included the sample data left in place. Our initial interpretation was rather critical: users were simply experimenting. However, upon reevaluating, we found that most prompts were detailed, specific, and genuine. They entered their data in the prompt box because it was the only option available to them. We designed it for sentences. Users employed it correctly as an entry point.

Approximately 25% of prompts from live sites were not in English. We observed usage across six different languages within two months. Our favorite instance was when someone requested, in everyday Spanish, a cheese chart, as what a pie chart is called in Spanish. It understood perfectly each time.

This was also created using Visualizer AI. We entered the language data and requested: “Sort from highest to lowest and place the percentages outside the bars. Use the following brand colours: #0E7C8B and #9FD5DE.” After that adjustment: “Relocate the labels outside the bars.”
