Interim guidance for Morocco DST change 2026

The Moroccan Government has recently announced an upcoming change to Daylight Saving Time (DST). Starting from 2:00 a.m. on 20th September 2026, clocks will be set back by one hour to align with the UTC+0 time zone.

Here’s what you need to know about this change:

1. At 2:00 a.m. on 20th September 2026, clocks in the Casablanca time zone will be adjusted back by one hour.

To accommodate this change, Microsoft is preparing an update. However, there’s a need for ample time to develop, test, and roll out this update across all platforms before the deadline arrives. All supported Windows platforms will receive the necessary updates during the security patch on 8th September 2026, which will include:

• Windows 11, Version 26H1
• Windows 11, Version 25H2
• Windows 11, Version 24H2
• Windows Server 2025
• Windows Server 2022
• Windows Server 2019, along with other supported systems

If, for any reason, your systems can’t install the monthly update before the 20th September deadline, here’s a quick workaround: temporarily disable the “set time zone automatically” feature in Windows and manually select a different time zone to ensure the correct local time is reflected.

We suggest that users disable the automatic time zone setting and switch their devices to (UTC) Coordinated Universal Time on 20th September 2026 at 2:00 a.m. Doing this will help ensure your devices display the right local time. Please note, however, that past events before the update will not appear accurately.

You can change your time zone by following these simple steps:

• Press the Windows logo key. Type “time zone” in the search box, then go to ‘Set time zone automatically’ and turn that option off.
• Next, click on Change the time zone. From the dropdown menu, choose “(UTC) Coordinated Universal Time”.
