Introducing Everpure Cloud Azure Native for Azure VMs

We’re thrilled to introduce the Everpure Cloud Azure Native for Azure Virtual Machines (VMs). This latest release enables Azure users to set up advanced block storage volumes and link them directly to their Azure VMs, all within the Azure portal. There’s no need for complicated appliances or storage configurations — just flexible, high-performance block storage that integrates seamlessly with Azure disks.

This update addresses three common issues that Azure VM users encounter with traditional Managed Disks:

  • Only pay for the storage you actually use instead of what you provision — Our billing adjusts to reflect your effective capacity after deduplication and compression, helping you avoid extra costs (up to 40% savings!).
  • Scale your storage separately from compute resources — You can expand capacity and optimize performance without having to alter your VM or change the VM SKU, giving you better control over both expenses and efficiency.
  • Built-in enterprise data services — Features like thin provisioning, deduplication, and compression are all integrated with Everpure.
  • Familiar setups — You’ll encounter storage pools, volume groups, and volumes that line up nicely with your applications and VMs.
  • Independent scaling of capacity and IOPS — Adjust storage performance as needed, without affecting your compute resources.
  • Smooth guest-OS integration — Mounted volumes appear as standard Windows disks; there’s no need for custom drivers or extra tools.

Step 1: Deploy the Everpure Cloud Service

Head to the Azure Marketplace to locate the Azure Native Everpure Cloud and deploy it within your subscription. This service is set up natively as an Azure resource in your chosen region.

Step 2: Create a Storage Pool

Next, set up a storage pool. Choose an availability zone for resilience and use the performance slider to adjust your desired IOPS, keeping it separate from your capacity settings.

Step 3: Create a Volume Group

Create a volume group — this is a logical container that can hold related volumes. For example, you might group all disks from a particular application or VM together. Managing access and performing day-2 tasks is much easier at this group level.

Step 4: Create Volumes

Within the volume group, set up the volumes that your VM will use. Choose a name and size — note that this size is only logical and doesn’t reserve any capacity upfront. You can resize volumes while they are in use and share them across multiple VMs as needed.

Step 5: Mount the Volume to Your Azure VM

From your volume group, select the option to mount the volume on your VM. This will open the Azure VM connection interface, allowing you to attach the volume to your chosen Azure Virtual Machine.

Step 6: Bring the Disk Online in the Guest OS

After mounting, the last step occurs within your VM. The Everpure volumes will show up as standard, unformatted Windows disks. Open Disk Management, initialize the disks with GPT, use the New Simple Volume Wizard, and format them as NTFS. Within moments, your Everpure-backed volume will be a normal drive letter (like F:) ready for your workloads.
