Land Your Offer – Anatomy of Revenue Generating Partner Offer – Part 1 – Copilot in 30

Just thirty days, twenty-five users, and a simple offer can transform your AI curiosity into lasting customer relationships.

Small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) understand the importance of AI, yet they often struggle to find a trusted guide and a straightforward way to dive in. Copilot in 30 provides exactly that: a risk-free trial of Microsoft 365 Copilot Business for twenty-five users over thirty days, costing nothing. It’s a well-structured experience that only an experienced partner can provide. When packaged as an offer in the Microsoft Marketplace, it becomes a scalable solution for every SMB customer in your network, paving the way for future managed services.

The Microsoft Marketplace acts as a partner-focused platform, enhancing your ability to connect with more customers and simplifying your sales processes. By publishing an offer, you create a permanent and discoverable storefront in the place where your potential customers already seek assistance with Copilot.

Perhaps most crucially, this offer allows you to transform your expertise into a repeatable process. Instead of starting from scratch each time, you establish a defined path with activities, timelines, and deliverables that can be implemented across multiple customers. You can find both professional and managed service offer types in Partner Center, allowing the same offer to encompass both the initial thirty-day journey and the services that follow.

The SMB segment is still in the early stages of adopting AI, typically consisting of organisations with 300 or fewer users on Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Standard, or Premium — usually without a dedicated AI team.

This scenario presents a golden opportunity for partners: there’s high demand, limited internal capacity, and a sizable customer base. A well-designed, repeatable offer can scale much more effectively than bespoke projects can.

Microsoft 365 Copilot Business is the cost-effective add-on aimed at SMB customers, offering the same features as Microsoft 365 Copilot directly within the applications they are already familiar with, such as Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. There’s no need for extensive platform changes, minimal training, and it’s immediately applicable to their work.

Furthermore, Copilot serves as an introductory tool. As teams gain confidence in using it, they will naturally gravitate towards agents, automated workflows, and Copilot Cowork, thus deepening their reliance on the partner that guided them through the transition.

Copilot in 30 is a limited-time opportunity for CSP partners, offering a Microsoft 365 Copilot Business trial for SMBs with fewer than 300 employees. Here are the essentials:

  • What the customer receives: 25 Microsoft 365 Copilot Business seats free for 30 days, transacted through CSP New Commerce (Product ID CFQ7TTC0MM8R · SKU 006Z)
  • Who is eligible: Customers using Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Standard, or Premium with no existing paid Microsoft 365 Copilot — limited to one trial per customer
  • Trial duration: Available to be processed until 31 December 2026
  • Day 30 outcome: The trial automatically converts to a paid subscription unless renewal settings are altered, allowing a 7-day cancellation period
  • What Microsoft provides: A launch kit, marketing materials, setup guidance, the Copilot Success Planner, and advice for conversion

Microsoft handles the licences and supply materials. However, the offer—and the relationship with the customer—is firmly in your hands.

A solo trial seldom drives behaviour change. A guided trial, however, does. During these thirty days, your role is to ensure that all twenty-five participants perceive genuine value in their work, and that the sponsor can clearly see this as well.

  • Before Day 0: Select the right customers, act as “Customer Zero” by implementing Copilot in your own business, secure a dedicated sponsor and Copilot admin, and develop a comprehensive 30-day success plan with measurable objectives.
  • Day 0: Process the trial, configure the paid renewal terms, complete the administrative setup, assign all 25 licences, and kick off with introductory prompts.
  • Days 1–28: Conduct a weekly scenario (covering Outlook, Teams, Apps, Agents), review Copilot Analytics, re-engage users with limited activity, and gather testimonials in the customers’ own words.
  • Days 29–30: Conduct a review of outcomes and ROI, confirm the transition to a paid offer, and initiate discussions on scaling and further consumption.

Every interaction showcases your expertise—value that customers won’t derive from simply having a licence. Each engagement helps steer the decision on Day 30 from “should we continue?” to “how much more can we get?”

Below, you’ll find the full activity plan for the offer—it’s ready to be incorporated into your offer description or statement of work.

† Estimates from the offer plan. Please verify current incentive rates, funding, and eligibility in Partner Center.

Three revenue streams create a compound effect:

  1. CSP incentive — this incentive is earned on every paid Copilot Business seat once the trial converts, with further growth when the customer increases from 25 to 50 seats.
  2. Frontier Accelerate deployment funding — $2,500 becomes available when you facilitate the conversion to 50 paid seats, funding the deployment efforts that ensure the expansion is successful.
  3. Managed services — this ongoing engagement outlined in Day 31 and Beyond is where the most significant and sustainable revenue resides.

Now, consider multiplying these results. Everything mentioned relates to a single customer engagement. Executing the offer means rolling it out across all eligible customers in your network—you won’t have to guess who they are. Partner Center’s growth insights reporting can be accessed via the AI Business Solutions & Security Insights (ASPX) dashboard, which provides account-level insights on Copilot eligibility, potential seat growth, usage of free Copilot Chat, and indicators of customer adoption for those you already manage. To create a ranked target list from this data, my colleague Brian O’Shea developed a Copilot for 30 Power BI dashboard that overlays your ASPX data, scoring each customer on a 0–100 priority scale based on eligible seats, opportunities, whitespace, and signs of interest—helping you focus on the customers most likely to convert.

The offer consists of three layers:

  1. Trial criteria — 25 users, 30 days, $0 CSP trial SKU; the SMB should have between 50 and 300 eligible Microsoft 365 seats; no existing paid Copilot; running a Business Basic, Standard, or Premium plan; one trial per customer valid until 31 Dec 2026; a dedicated sponsor and Copilot admin; auto-conversion to paid unless settings are altered.
  2. Five operational stagesIdentify (I1–I4), Plan (P1–P3), Activate (A1–A4), Experience (X1–X4), and Convert (C1, T1, T2, W2). Each phase yields tangible outcomes visible to the sponsor.
  3. Proof of value — this includes a ranked list of prospects and campaign responses; agreed-upon use cases and success metrics; provision of the trial with 25 licences allocated; weekly usage reports from the Microsoft 365 admin centre; documentation of success stories from the customer’s perspective; confirmation of a paid conversion in Partner Center—plus a specified wave 2 expansion beyond the initial 25 seats.

The critical activities—including admin setup (A3), Week 4 agents (X4), transitioning from 25 to 50 paid seats (T1), Frontier Accelerate funding (T2), and planning for wave 2 (W2)—are where the engagement shifts from a project to a comprehensive partnership: managed services, building agents, Copilot Studio, and further offerings come into play once the trial converts.

While the end of the trial marks a new beginning for deeper engagement, consider bundling these as ongoing services in your offer:

  • Copilot adoption management — conduct monthly reviews of Copilot Analytics, refresh prompts and scenarios, and implement a champion programme for onboarding new users
  • Licence and expansion management — guide the customer from 25 to 50 paid seats and prepare for wave 2, aligning renewals, terms, and pricing as usage grows
  • Agent development — design, build, and maintain role-specific agents with Copilot Studio for sales, service, finance, and operational scenarios showcased in Week 4
  • Copilot Cowork enablement and governance — introduce usage-based Cowork scenarios, establish budgets and cost controls, and report monthly on usage
  • Security, compliance, and readiness — ensure data protection, permissions, and governance are aligned with the growing use of AI, including a transition plan to Microsoft 365 Business Premium
  • Quarterly value assessments — review success metrics, capture new proof points, and coordinate the next expansion plan with the sponsor

Each of these services represents a recurring, outcome-oriented engagement rather than a standalone project—maintaining your role as the customer’s AI partner as their needs develop.

  1. Download the Copilot in 30 launch kit and the Microsoft 365 Copilot Partner FAQ from the Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program.
  2. Be Customer Zero — implement Copilot and the microskilling series within your own business first.
  3. Publish your offer in Partner Center as a professional service (the 30-day experience) with additional managed services post-Day 31.
  4. Choose your initial cohort — target businesses with 50–300 seats on a Microsoft 365 Business plan that don’t currently have a paid Copilot.
  5. Process your first trial through CSP New Commerce (Product ID CFQ7TTC0MM8R · SKU 006Z) and set your paid renewal on Day 0.
  6. Schedule the Day 30 review before Day 1 — ensure that the conversation around conversion and expansion is already arranged.

The offer window closes on 31 December 2026. Your potential customers are already within your reach. Start by publishing your offer and let the countdown begin.
