Microphone and Camera Streaming for Mixed Reality Link
We’re excited to announce the latest update to Mixed Reality Link, which brings fresh opportunities for connecting your mixed reality headset with your Windows PC.
This update transforms your headset into more than just a screen. You can now directly utilise its built-in microphone and cameras within Windows, streamlining communication, collaboration, and the ability to share your unique viewpoint with others.
Whether you’re participating in a Teams meeting, playing a game, chatting with friends, or interacting with an AI assistant, your voice will now come right from your mixed reality device. This promotes a more intuitive experience, allowing you to speak through the device you’re already wearing without needing a separate microphone linked to your PC.
Your headset’s front-facing camera is now accessible to Windows applications, enabling you to effortlessly share your surroundings with others. Rather than just describing what you’re seeing, you can now show it directly from your perspective.
The innovative Avatar Camera feature lets users of Meta Quest show up as their avatars in Windows meetings. Instead of relying on a webcam, you can use your Meta avatar as a video source, helping you stay connected during discussions.
These exciting features are available in Mixed Reality Link version 26.9105.9070.0 and later.
To get started, connect your headset to your PC via Mixed Reality Link. Once linked, you’ll discover new microphone and camera options available in Windows, ready for selection just like any other input device.
The available sources include:
- Mixed Reality Link Microphone for audio input
- Mixed Reality Link Passthrough for headset camera input
- Mixed Reality Link Avatar Camera for Meta avatar video
Just pick the device you wish to use within your applications and start enjoying these new features.
We’d love to hear how you find these new functionalities. Please share your feedback, suggestions, or any questions you have in the Mixed Reality Link Tech Community.
