Microsoft Defender CSPM Assessments for Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server – GA
As security needs and regulations change, keeping an eye on your database’s security posture is just as vital as spotting active threats. To ensure your database remains secure and compliant, it’s crucial to have ongoing visibility into any security vulnerabilities or configuration changes that deviate from established security standards.
We’re thrilled to announce that Microsoft Defender for Cloud Security Posture Management (Defender CSPM) assessments are now available for Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server. These built-in assessments continually analyse PostgreSQL server setups against top security practices tailored for PostgreSQL. This helps businesses pinpoint weaknesses and misconfigurations while prioritising them based on their potential risk.
The assessments offer practical recommendations that assist customers in enhancing their security foundations, prioritising fixes, and meeting compliance standards. Results are directly accessible via Microsoft Defender for Cloud, empowering security and operations teams to actively bolster the security stance of their PostgreSQL workloads.
Initially, a set of assessments focused on PostgreSQL is available, addressing critical areas such as network security, auditing controls, and operational resilience. We have plans to roll out further assessment features in upcoming updates.
If you’ve already enabled Microsoft Defender CSPM on subscriptions that include Azure Database for PostgreSQL flexible servers, you won’t need to do anything extra. The assessments will be automatically provided, complete with a risk score and integrated into your existing Defender experience. This makes it effortless to monitor your security posture and ensure alignment with both organisational and industry security benchmarks.
You can check the assessment recommendations through the Azure portal, either on the resource blade of your Azure Database for PostgreSQL flexible server or within the main Defender for Cloud interface, as well as in the Microsoft Defender portal.
