The impressive growth of the Microsoft Marketplace highlights this transition, showcasing sales that have doubled each year for the last three years.* This surge offers partners a timely chance to engage customers via their preferred purchasing channels while linking software innovation, service expertise, and Microsoft’s extensive network within a single commercial platform.

 

However, the next wave of change won’t solely rely on AI. It will stem from ecosystems. As businesses venture into the era of “Frontier Transformation,” they’re searching for partners who can help translate their AI investments into actual business results.

In today’s AI-centric market, the Marketplace is evolving into the commercial backbone that connects innovation with customer benefit. Software firms bring the latest innovations, channel partners contribute personalised services and local expertise, and the Marketplace facilitates their collaboration, enabling them to co-create, co-sell, and deliver comprehensive solutions at scale.

 

This shift was a key topic in my discussion with Sandy Gupta, Vice President, Global ISV Ecosystem, during our time at MCAPS Start for Partners. We discussed the future trajectory of the Marketplace in FY27 and why right now is the perfect time to position it as a vital engine for growth.
