PPOM v27.0.0 Update: Template Library, Live Preview & More

The PPOM v27.0.0 Update is now live, introducing a new template library, real-time product previews, WooCommerce block cart compatibility, variation-specific conditional fields, a redesigned field builder UI, performance enhancements, and over 30 bug fixes.

This update aims at addressing the areas of PPOM that previously hindered user experience. From pre-configured templates and live previews to enhanced variation logic and complete block cart support, the latest version streamlines the process of creating tailored WooCommerce product offerings, making it quicker, simpler, and more adaptable.

If you’re already a PPOM user, you’re likely aware of its robust functionality. However, if it’s your first encounter, here’s a brief overview.

PPOM is a WooCommerce plugin enabling you to insert custom fields on any product page. From text inputs and dropdowns to file uploads, image selections, colour pickers, date selectors, and more than 30 additional custom fields, it allows your customers to personalise their orders precisely to their liking, while you maintain full control over the visual appearance and functionality of these fields. No coding is required.

The plugin is available as a free version on WordPress.org, alongside a Pro version offering advanced features for those who require more capabilities.

Let’s explore what has been introduced in this update.

Template Library

Previously, every field group in PPOM required starting from a blank slate—adding fields individually, configuring them, testing their appearance, making adjustments, and repeating the process. For seasoned users, this was manageable; however, for beginners, it posed a significant obstacle.

The new template library transforms this process. You can now select from a collection of ready-to-use templates tailored for common scenarios.

Available templates include:

  • Pizza ordering
  • T-shirt customisation
  • Jewellery engraving
  • Made-to-measure options

Apply a template with just one click, then make any necessary tweaks. It’s the quickest route to activate a field group and serves as an excellent foundation for further customisation.

Live Preview

Previously, to verify how your fields appeared on the product page, you’d need to save your work, open the frontend in another tab, review it, return, make adjustments, and repeat the cycle. Any alteration required yet another round trip.

This is no longer necessary.

The field group editor now displays how your fields will appear on the product page in real-time. Say goodbye to switching tabs or testing on the frontend to verify your layout.

This modification might seem minor, but it significantly enhances the speed at which you can build and iterate.

Conditional Fields for Product Variants

While PPOM’s conditional logic has always been robust, a significant limitation existed: it could not respond to WooCommerce’s default product variations such as Size, Colour, Material, or Style.

This has changed with the latest release.

You can now display entire PPOM field groups based on chosen WooCommerce product variations. When customers select different variations, PPOM automatically reveals only the relevant customisation fields for that choice.

Cart Edit Now Supports the Block Cart

Cart Edit allows customers to modify their custom options directly within the cart without needing to remove the item and re-add it. This feature has always been invaluable; however, it previously only functioned with the older WooCommerce shortcode cart.

As many modern themes now utilize the block-based cart by default, users could not take advantage of Cart Edit.

This issue has been resolved. Both cart experiences now operate alike.

If your store is utilizing the WooCommerce block cart and you’ve been hesitant about using Cart Edit, now is the perfect time to give it a go.

Also Included in This Release

Revamped Field Builder UI

The field builder has undergone a complete visual redesign. It features a more modern layout, improved input controls, a new color picker, and a specific Advanced section for less frequently used options. Navigation is now quicker and simpler.

Auto-Save and Unsaved Changes Notifications

The field group editor now auto-saves your progress and alerts you if you attempt to exit while there are unsaved changes. You won’t lose a field configuration to an accidental tab closure again.

Performance Enhancements

There has been a reduction in database queries and PHP overhead on product pages. Stores with intricate field groups should experience improved load times.

30+ Bug Fixes

This PPOM v27.0.0 release includes over 30 bug fixes, addressing issues such as:

  • File upload problems on iOS Safari
  • Currency conversion issues with WCML
