vamira vs WPVibe vs MCP Adapter vs Easy MCP AI: Which One Fits Your Site?

Comparing vamira and WPVibe reveals they cater to distinct needs: vamira enables an AI to execute PHP, WP-CLI commands, and file operations directly on your website, whereas WPVibe provides a curated AI toolkit via a hosted relay. Additionally, two more options are available for consideration.

The MCP Adapter serves as the conduit between WordPress plugins and AI clients, having recently been added to WordPress.org, while Easy MCP AI is a complimentary plugin that responds using designated tools with varying access levels. This guide evaluates all four solutions based on their structure, capabilities, suitability for live sites, and expense. For managing a live site via chat, Easy MCP AI is the recommended choice. You can refer to the selection listed at the end, indicating which of the other three options is more appropriate. Easy MCP AI is developed by Themeisle, creators of this blog. If you find MCP confusing, it’s advisable to read what MCP means for WordPress first.

Method : This review examines architecture, reach, safeguards for live sites, costs, and accounts, utilising vendor documentation, pricing details, WordPress.org information, and for vamira, public source code checked from October 5 to 7, 2026. The analysis of vamira and WPVibe is based on these published resources rather than practical testing.

Integration of the Four Solutions

The MCP Adapter forms the foundational layer. It’s part of WordPress’s AI Building Blocks project, and version 0.7.0 was the inaugural release made available via the WordPress.org plugin directory on October 2, 2026. Its readme notes the purpose succinctly: “MCP Adapter is the server and transport layer. It does not provide any AI features itself.” It serves as a conduit for capabilities registered by WordPress core and plugins using the Abilities API, with an ability becoming accessible via MCP only when marked public. Clients connect using HTTP or through WP-CLI.

Directly on top of this foundational level sits vamira. Its getting started guide refers to the MCP Adapter as the “official WordPress plugin, bundled with vamira”, with the version it includes being 0.6.1, which is earlier than the 0.7.0 release found on WordPress.org. Vamira contributes nine abilities of its own (Execute PHP, several file operations, and an upload link), as well as WP-CLI commands, effectively transforming the adapter into a development agent.

Conversely, WPVibe operates on a distinctly different architecture. Its service functions as a hosted relay at mcp.wpvibe.ai, existing on Cloudflare’s Servers. The AI client interacts with the relay, which verifies your WPVibe account and the defined limits of your chosen plan before sending an HTTPS request to your site. There, WordPress’s REST API handles standard tasks like managing posts and pages, while the free WPVibe plugin takes care of everything else, all performed under the auspices of the authorising WordPress user. The relay facilitates WPVibe’s operation with browser-based clients like Claude.ai and ChatGPT without necessitating a local installation. Additionally, it ensures that each request passes through WPVibe’s Servers, which securely store an encrypted application password for your site.

The fourth option, Easy MCP AI, is a self-sufficient MCP server integrated within WordPress, featuring a hosted relay and a vendor account, responding with over 280 tools rather than raw PHP commands. It can also provide WordPress abilities as tools of its own without relying on the MCP Adapter. Upon installation on WordPress 6.9 or later, most non-destructive abilities are enabled by default, while any abilities added subsequently remain disabled until activated by an administrator.

Same Question, Different Servers

Consider a hypothetical bookshop site operating on WordPress 7.1.2 that features three published posts, one published page, one draft post, and a comment pending approval. Here’s how each server addressed a similar query from the site owner, posed via Claude Code: “Provide a brief status report for this WordPress site: how many posts and pages are published, what plugins are active, and is there any comment awaiting approval? Do not change anything.”

Utilising the MCP Adapter 0.7.0 from WordPress.org as the only installed plugin and with the administrator’s application password, the AI can access three abilities related to site, user, and environmental information. Claude Code’s response began with “I couldn’t retrieve any of the three items you requested,” explaining that the connection “has no means to list posts, pages, plugins, or comments.”

This showcases the Adapter performing as intended, which delivers minimal capabilities until plugins register public abilities, positioning it as infrastructure for developers: exactly the layer that vamira enhances.

In contrast, using Easy MCP AI 2.0.1 as the sole active plugin with an API token set to Read-only access, allowing the AI to view content but not create, modify, or delete anything, resulted in four read operations (two counts, a plugin list, and a comment list). The AI responded: “Here’s the site status. I can only read data and cannot change anything.” It shared, “3 published posts, 1 published page, 1 active plugin, and 1 comment awaiting approval”, even quoting it as: “Is The Lantern Keeper available in hardcover?”

PRO TIP: When you connect for the first time, start with a question you already know the answer to, such as the status report mentioned above. This demonstrates exactly what the AI can access before allowing it to make changes.

Accessible Capabilities for the AI: The Live Site Query

Vamira

The free plugin by vamira leads with Execute PHP: code capable of running within the entire WordPress environment, giving direct access to the database, all functions, and every installed plugin, with a 30-second execution cap. Additional capabilities include reading, writing, editing, deleting files, directory listing, and WP-CLI commands executed both in the foreground and background, alongside a temporary link allowing file uploads to the site. It requires WordPress version 6.9 or newer, PHP version 8.0 or higher, and an administrator account.

The provider straightforwardly states the intended use: “For development and staging environments only. Always maintain backups.” The documentation clarifies that this is more of a professional suggestion than a limitation imposed by the plugin, although a site that resembles production will receive a warning prior to the functionalities becoming active. Newly created PHP files are stored in a sandbox, referred to in the documentation as “a convenient guardrail, not a security boundary,” and the code executed through Execute PHP entirely bypasses this guardrail. Its crash recovery system “does not roll back changes.” On a staging copy with proper backups, this trade-off can be justifiable.

Two practical considerations: the AI capabilities are disabled by default and require confirmation to activate, and vamira is not listed in the WordPress.org plugin directory. Installation must be performed using a release ZIP downloaded from the official site.

WPVibe

WPVibe grants the AI a curated toolkit rather than direct PHP code execution: REST API calls for posts, pages, media, users, and settings, along with uploading media from a URL, editing drafts of themes through a private preview link, file tools compatible with draft theme files, a functionality to execute abilities registered by other plugins, and over 125 WP-CLI style commands according to WPVibe. Setup begins with installing the free WPVibe plugin: authorize your site via the plugin’s admin panel, then enter the MCP server URL into your AI client. This plugin is also responsible for enabling draft themes, file operations, and the aforementioned WP-CLI style commands.

For live sites, the safety model requires approvals. Actions that could result in irreversible changes (such as deleting posts, users, or plugins, executing raw SQL queries, site-wide search and replace operations, and altering admin access) will hold on an approval page prior to execution. Theme modifications occur within an isolated draft, visible solely to you while logged in. Two gaps warrant attention: some deletions proceed without confirmation: categories, tags, menu items, and generally, media could be permanently deleted when the AI carries out operations via the REST API absent an approval page. Moreover, an administrator can enable “Dangerously bypass approvals”, which omits the approval prompts, allowing deletes, raw SQL commands, WP-CLI alterations, REST API writes, and plugin abilities to execute as soon as the AI requests them. This setting, however, still demands an approval page for switching on white label mode, modifying wp-admin to exclude WPVibe for clients. New code snippets remain disabled until manually activated in wp-admin, although edits to already active HTML, CSS, or JavaScript snippets bypass that step and go live instantly. Plugin and theme installations still require confirmation during chat, which means the AI will check with you.

MCP Adapter

Alone, the Adapter functions as a cautious minimum: an ability is accessible solely when designated as public. Any logged-in user can connect by default unless a developer implements stricter regulations. Permission checks are conducted against the associated user, thus it is best to connect using a restricted account rather than your administrative one. It necessitates at least WordPress version 6.9.

Easy MCP AI

Currently, the release for Easy MCP AI is version 2.1.0; the bookshop example above and the token form below originate from version 2.0.1. Easy MCP AI interacts through named tools encompassing posts, pages, media, comments, users, and menus. WooCommerce and numerous SEO plugins become available once those plugins are active and their respective tool groups are enabled. GA4, Search Console and additional data providers become integrated after connecting your accounts. The access model is crucial: each connection, whether an API token or an AI application approved through OAuth sign-in, is assigned an access level (Full access, Read-only, or Custom), permitting all tool calls to operate as a specific WordPress user within the confines of that user’s permissions.

Easy MCP AI 2.0.1 token form: user admin, Read-only, so the AI can view content but can't create, change, or delete anything.

Three controls are vital for managing a live site. The Audit log, enabled by default, documents every MCP tool request. Change history, also enabled on default for new installations, retains before-and-after snapshots of alterations made through MCP, and since version 2.1.0, the AI can restore changes based on this log, albeit wp-admin provides a restore button. An approval switch, which is off by default, prompts Easy MCP AI to request your consent before undertaking destructive actions like deletions.

There are concrete limitations to consider: while builder tools are present, none of the built-in tools can execute PHP code or shell commands, and integrations with Semrush, SE Ranking, and DataForSEO necessitate paid accounts with those services. If you’re seeking PHP or WP-CLI functionalities via chat, vamira can execute both, and WPVibe presents WP-CLI style commands.

Pricing, Daily Limits and Accounts

Vamira is free and open-source under the AGPL licence for unlimited sites; the Pro version introduces features tailored for page builders, themes, and plugins which allow persistent memory across sessions. The cost for the Personal plan is €49 per year for three sites (regular price €69), while the Agency plan is €149 annually for 1000 sites, and the Agency Lifetime option is €299 payable once. All three Pro plans mention “credits,” indicating action limits.

vamira pricing: free for unlimited sites, Personal €49/year for 3 sites, Agency €149/year, Agency Lifetime €299 once.

WPVibe provides a complimentary plan allowing 100 tool calls over a rolling 24-hour period, where each tool call represents a successful action on your site (reading or editing content or uploading media); unsuccessful calls do not count. New accounts receive a one-time bonus of 300 calls for the first week, exclusive to their site. Paid plans raise the limits: Pro offers $99 per year for 500 calls daily, Power at $299 annually for 2,000 calls, and Agency at $599 for 5,000 calls, with the possibility of a Scale tier beyond that. The daily quota is linked to the WPVibe account, thus various connected sites draw from the same daily allowance, and users are restricted to one Free account each.

WPVibe pricing: Free at 100 tool calls a day, Pro $99 a year for 500 a day, Power $299 for 2,000, Agency $599 for 5,000.

The MCP Adapter is available as a free plugin within the WordPress.org directory, while Easy MCP AI is free with additional paid tiers, vendor quotas, and Easy MCP accounts. Extra expenses for Easy MCP AI can arise from optional data APIs billed directly by Semrush, SE Ranking, or DataForSEO, alongside whatever the AI client costs itself.

Sign-in processes vary significantly across services. WPVibe requires users to have a WPVibe account: when connecting your AI client, a sign-in page appears requesting your email and a 6-digit code sent to you by WPVibe. In contrast, vamira permits only administrators to connect using OAuth or an application password, using HTTPS except in local environments.

AI clients connect to the Adapter over the web with a WordPress application password or through WP-CLI, WordPress’s command-line tool. Easy MCP AI connects either through an OAuth 2.1 sign-in, allowing you to approve the AI application on your site, or via per-user API tokens created in wp-admin. For detailed instructions, see the step-by-step guide to connecting Claude or ChatGPT to WordPress.

According to WordPress.org statistics : WPVibe’s plugin, referred to as vibe-ai by SeedProd, boasts over 60,000 active installations and a total of 100 five-star ratings, alongside one four-star and one three-star review; the MCP Adapter has 40,000+ installations without any ratings yet; while Easy MCP AI records over 10,000 installations and 11 ratings, all five stars.

Which Option Should You Choose?

  • For daily management of a live site, opt for Easy MCP AI. It operates within your own WordPress setup, featuring hosted relay and vendor account, with each connection assigned an access level such as Read-only. The Audit log, enabled by default, tracks every MCP tool request, while the Change history, also on by default for new installations, records before-and-after snapshots of changes made through MCP since version 2.1.0, allowing the AI to restore prior configurations. Its 280+ tools cover various content types, comments, and media, alongside WooCommerce and SEO plugin fields once those plugins are active and their tool groups are enabled, as well as GA4 and Search Console data after account connection. The plugin is free, with paid tiers available.
  • If you are a developer or work with one and need an AI that constructs and debugs actual code on a staging or developmental copy, choose vamira instead. Its Execute PHP function allows AI-generated code to run within the comprehensive WordPress environment, with documentation advising against use in production.
  • For those seeking a hosted relay with a free plugin onsite and an approval page for irreversible changes, consider WPVibe while being comfortable with the relay in between and a daily usage cap shared across your sites.
  • If you are developing your own abilities or creating a plugin to interact with MCP, then opt for the MCP Adapter, which serves as the foundational framework for vamira.
  • If you wish to explore the broader landscape before deciding, review the summary of the server-plugins/”>best WordPress MCP server plugins.

Note: Prompt injection risks apply across all four solutions. OWASP ranks it highest on its LLM risk scale: text the AI processes, such as comments or product reviews, can carry latent instructions that influence an AI with writing capabilities. Protect yourself using read-only access for review tasks, a limited WordPress user account, approval mechanisms for risky alterations, and conducting a review prior to publication. For vamira, neither read-only access nor a limited WordPress account is available: only administrators can connect, and the plugin does not restrict actions for authenticated administrators.

Concluding Thoughts

  • Easy MCP AI is designed for site management: it features named tools, access levels, an Audit log, and is free of charge.
  • Vamira serves as a powerful tool for PHP and WP-CLI tasks, tailored for development and testing purposes.
  • WPVibe acts as a convenient hosted solution with a free plugin and a relay facilitating approvals and daily usage caps.
